Steve Levy will not get my vote unless he gets of his a** and starts doing somthing about this.

Street racing has been incressing and giving drag racing a bad name.

I am a long time drag racer and spending a ton of money in NJ. and PA.

I rather spend my money here on Long Island were I LIVE!

I have been sending Emails to Steve, now they are kicked back to me unread.

So now I have been writing letters to Steve with my concerns.

A racetrack plays an important role on Long Island - serving as an outlet for sports enthusiasts who might otherwise practice illegal street racing.
WE need to gather all street racer or racers to put the word out the we need a drag strip here in long island. stop paying about $100.00 to go to NJ.

I believe long island should open a track because it isnt fair to use drag racing enthusiast to do this racing on the street. I also dont like that fact in order to go to the closest track we have to drive to New Jersey. I am the Founder of Point Blank Racing which is a team of Young People who are attempting to make this track on Long Island happen. I'd love to see this happen One day.

I think that a dragstrip in long island would be perfect. The teenagers in Long Island need one instead of having to race on blocks and being chased away by the cops. We aren't doing anything wrong we are kids we want to have fun and racing interests more than half of the kids on long island.

I do think Long Island needs a Drag Strip. There will be a place to race our cars and bikes instead of on the streets. It is a good hobby for kids to get involved with instead of getting in trouble on the streets with gangs and drugs. It will bring in more business to that automotive industry and create some jobs.

Drag Racing on Long Islsnd, for close to 75 years there has been racing on long island. Vanderbilt pky, freeport race track, islip raceway, ny national speedway, west hampton circuit, riverhead raceway. Each time one of them closed more jobs where lost, more small businesses closed and less entertainment for long islanders. I'm all for free space for the future and green stuff. I have one question for steve levy is how come when they want to build a lowes or tangers outlet, they always get approved whether we like it or not. long island has places that are not good for building houses malls. Look at shoram plant, over by the suffolk county jail, land fills, toxic dump sites. We are not looking for a sports complex we just want a drag strip, If they want to build a motorsport complex great it will generate jobs and revenue. If not we still need a drag strip, nothing fancy but a place for people to have a good time and blow off steam or whatever. keep li racing alive

    There is an motorsports association.

Founded 2004 specifically for bringing motorsports back to long island...
Where motorsports was born in the U.S.
Motorsports has been apart of long island for OVER 100 years...

The 1st race was 1901, the 1st stock race was 1909 in riverhead

The 1st actual drag race is arguable, but we believe it was here also...
The a timing association was 1st started in the west, there is reason to believe drag racing also was here 1st.

The 1st purpose built drag race facility was here on long island.

We can have racing back, people need to join the "Long Island Motorsports Association"
    "We race, We vote"

Together we are the largest organization, we could easily be over 170,000 members.
To do that we need cooperation and communication..
Spread the word and join the only association fighting for what you want, we need...

    "Suffolk county needs $$$$
    We need a Track"

    It's not rocket science!

      It get better, today Sunday July 26,2009.I finally got the car running good and was doing a little test & tune on 109 in West Babylon with the dealer plate on the car got a few bugs out and decided to go on down to Island in Jersy. Checked the website at 5:00, 6:00, 7:00 and left 8:00 no posting about cancelling for today. We got there at 10:30 and we were first at the gate.15 minutes later an employee from the track comes over andtold us he decideed not to open because it might rain.I cant even test & tune... So my answer is to take a car thats not really street legal and do it on the street.{not really} but that howI feel. I live in suffolk, work in suffolk, pay my taxes, This has got to be fixed. We need a Drag stip {the linkster}

"Lighthouse Project" I was watching News 12 this morning, what I find totally amazing is all the hype and advertising for this project in the heart of Nassau Co. It really blows me away that if you got the bucks anything is possible. All we want is a drag strip maybe a few acres in a deserted airport or by a landfill site or what ever. But if you got the clout look in the middle of congested Nassau co. No problems with the environment or the politicians. We need someone like Wong to help us. Give us a break, build it and they will come. Could you imagine a real NHRA/IHRA facility with all the stuff they are doing at the Light House Project. Big Bucks fo Suffolk [Linkster]

i pass by grumen every single day for work and they are doing nothing with this place so much land and so much opportunity the airport alone has 2192 acres plus more(it's in calverton)they built a motocross track there so why not a drag strip(to much noise for the old people? too much traffic?)till then you build a a track or i will continue on the streets.
theres too many people dying these days
i have grown to hate the island its filled with nazis where you can't have any fun
people use to go to bald hill then to 101 and race but to much stuff has been happening recently build a track and instead of people dying in car accidents and wont have the fear of getting chased by the cops we can go there and meet and do it legally
we had 4 tracks at one time what the hell happened now we dont have one

long island is in desperate need of a track . i remember going to freeport islip and bridgehampton back in day to watch my father race.a sugesstion for a track in my opinion would be in suffolk county the old suffolk downs horserace track or thers been rumors for years that auqaduct is for sale why not turn that into a drag strip speedway . hell longisland has too many horse tracks .if there was a speedway on long island other than riverhead i would be there for every event bring back the speedways hell it will keep it off the street and it will be safe and it is a great family event for longislanders to do.plus it will make longisland a place worth going to once again and create fun for a whole new generation

My name is Chris Battestin. As of today, 11/11/09, I am joining the fight. Someone needs to teach Levy a lesson NOW!!!!!!! See, the fire in my belly is like a nitrous explosion. When I lived in Queens, my grandparents would spoil me and take me to Westhampton. They understood what a sacred place it was. I would get a WICKED buzz off of the tire smoke. When we accomplish our goal, I will go to this track every chance I get, and I will beg the staff to let me work there. I will work there for the rest of my life. i'm a bit of a shutterbug, but my digital camera will be ready-I'll probably get 300 photos a day at our new sacred place. In fact, we should call it Sacred Ground Raceway. Even if they hire me to just spray water for the burnouts, I will be more than honored-I want to help in the process however I can. I greatly miss how fun Westhampton was. I will tell everyone I know about this site. It's awesome that you guys are doing this. I am proud to be part of this. I do not have a car but if I did I would race it every time I come. If the Tree blew out I would be glad to do an old-school flagman start. I'm the emotional one in the family, so on opening day I will be crying happy tears all day-yes, I know I'm overly sensitive. Last Saturday night I was doing karaoke, and sang Jan and Dean's "Drag City," and at the end I said, "If drag racing is what you love and know, Steve Levy must go!!!!!!!!" Together we can teach that piece of crap a lesson. I support this because I've always cared deeply about cars and their needs. I am by no means a mechanic, but this track will give me the opportunity to do something for them. I'm not that great with tools. Heck, I could pay for the track if there was an all-car-trivia version of "Jeopardy!"-I'd win about 500 billion dollars at that and be able to pay to start Sunday bus service so I could actually get to the track. There is a guy in my town with a drag-radial mid '60's Nova, and once my photo of it was developed, I drew tears coming from its headlights-it's sad that there's no track out here anymore-Levy made that Nova cry. ( my late grandfather had a Nova-a 4-door '71, and if he had sold it to me I would have so kept the six-gun and do so many tweaks to it. he never understood what I saw in it. Eventually the driver's floorpan rusted through and everyone in the family except me was ragging on him that he would have to stop it with his feet like the Flintstone's car. I NEVER make fun of cars.) In closing, we need to do whatever it takes to get this done. Your Brother, "The Highway Chevalier."

Don't we all need jobs? Would a track not create more opportunities for hard working individuals who need some income?

Will a track not bring street racing related deaths and injuries down? It wont ever stop street racing completely, but I'm positive that an outlet for horsepower junkies will prove itself worthy.

Lastly- are there no investors willing to put up the money for this project? I'm sure there are parcels of land all over Long Island, not just Calverton or Yaphank. The truth is, "if you build it, they will come" - we need an honest operation here.

Hey Steve, I dont care what you do with hookers - but a drag strip on Long Island might be key to get the economy going again.
